The object is the last particulier private residence built in Arles by leading citizens. It's representative of nice homes built in Paris or in provinces by Napoleon nobility in the beginning of 17 th century.

Guillaume Meiffren became mayor of Arles in 1824 and built a worthy home according ti his position. "Hotel Chartrouse", today called particular private residence.

In 1826 Arles almanac it is written that "Baron de Chartrouse" had just built a face like the style of the houses situated street "chaussée d'antin".

The whole of edifices disposed around a spacious court with trees is looking grand. A monumental portal gives the fashion. The most important building is neighbouring with the houses built in Paris about 1820 by architects Percier and Fontaine.

Particulary with the big modillion corniees crossing off horizontally the face.
